Comments: As a result of my mother's entry into a care center I have possession of a
photo album from my father's service - training through return to the
states on (I believe) the Gen. Collins into Frisco June 3,1952. I have some
photos which carry annotations which I.D. the individuals in particular and
many which do not, some which I may be able to I.D. by cross referencing
but a surviving member of this group could probably do this far more
reliably, there are also general camp and country photos, shipboard
(outbound on Gen. John Pope - 8/4/51 @ 180th Mer.) Would forward
photo of your vet if can lock up positive I.D. or to group member for
further distribution. My father was Ralph H. Hartung out of Nebraska.

Is there anyone out there who might remember him? He is still living happily in Wisconsin and talks about his tank commander Artie Maligeon, a guy named Big Lace and another named O'Donnel.

Comments: I just want to say thank you to those of you who manage, maintain or
write in to this site. My father, Lester (Chuck) W. Johnson passed away
from Alzheimer's on April 22, 2006. Prior to his death, because of
postings on this site, I was able to reunite him with Jim Ferraro. It was
an amazing meeting!
When they saw each other at my front door, they saluted, and both
shed tears. As did everyone watching. We sat in the backyard and
listened to the stories from all of the pictures on the table. It was quite
chilling.
I was sorry that I hadn't gotten the opportunity to introduce them
earlier, as my father's Alzheimer's was in the early-mid stages at that
point, and alot of his memories were already gone, and the names
didn't come to him as quickly.
For those of you searching for someone, don't give up. They are out
there somewhere.
Thank you.

Comments: On May 26, 1953 our 4th platoon was struck by Chinese shell fire killing 7 men and wounding (some very seriously) most of the other members of the platoon.I was with the 3rd platoon, which was dug in a couple of hundred yards away, and was sent with the company medic to assist them. We were not aware how badly they were hit until we got there, however the medic and I proceeded to load the wounded on to his litter jeep and some of the others in one of the tanks including two men on the back deck whose legs were severed (however I believe they survived) We then had two of the less badly wounded men drive the jeep and the tank to the aid station. I mounted the back deck and held on to the two wounded guys while we drove through the Chinese shellfire. I have always wondered what subsequently happened to the guys we helped especially the two fellows on the back deck of the tank. Any info would be appreciated.

He was the official historian of the 72nd Tank Bn at that time - 1952 - and there was a book published at that time. I think the title of it was "THE HISTORY OF THE 72nd TANK BATTALION". I had a copy of it at one time but with moving etc it has disappeared. I am very interested in finding a copy. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide. One of Lt. Service or Relationship: ARMY VETERAN - KOREA

Comments: My fathers name is Oscar L. Branson. He served in the Korean War sometime in 1952. He was proud of his service during this time. He would never tell me or anyone else what he done besides being a tank driver. I understand the trauma that these veterans were put through. I would like to find anyone who might have served with my father during this time. If you or anyone you know served with him during this time and in the same company with him please let me know. My father passed away on March 12, 2004.
